The journal of James Percy Brown documents the life of a wealthy young American living in Paris from 1834-1835 during the reign of Louis Philippe.

Found in Notes:  Some of the highlights include his New Year's celebration (p.346), the presentation of the diplomatic corps to the ambassadors from Russia, Greece and Austria (p.348), discussion of Edward Livingston's diplomatic affairs (p.349,351), references to Andrew Jackson's message of December 1834 (p.360,365,376), Levitt Harris (p.354,361,374), and Pozzo di Borgo (p.348,384). It also appears that JPB's son, George Campbell Brown, went back and read his father's journal, as his signature and comments appear in pencil on page 392.
