Paraguayan Jesuits Collection
There are manuscripts giving detailed responses to the anti-Jesuit memorials of Diego de Villalon (envoy to Spain of Archbishop Bernardino de Cardenas) in the 1650's; rebutting the charges brought by Martin de Barua in the 1730's; and, finally, a very lengthy 'examen' of the manifesto written by the Redemptorist Miguel de Vargas Machuca, dating from about 1740 and providing in its course a rather full survey of the Jesuits' difficulties with their ecclesiastical and governmental opponents.

The papers in this collection cover a wide variety of places and events--not all clear in their relationship to Cardella. Most are in Spanish (letters to and from Central America as well as sermons for his New York community). There are seven folders of correpondence, received and sent, with some undated drafts of letters; four folders of material for and about the Spanish community in NYC; and small amounts of teaching material, legal documents and opinions, and inscription drafts.
John Briley Walsh Papers
Charles H. Fulmer, SJ papers
Fulmer (1833-1880) received the usual Jesuit education, was ordained in 1861, and spent most of his career teaching although some years were passed in mission work and he also did parish work for the last two years of his life. Two notebooks, each of some 360 pages, bound in boards, containing poems, comprise the collection. The majority of the poems are copied, but there are apparently a few originals.
