Scope and Contents Andrew Rapp (1848-1899) was born near Offenburg, Germany and volunteered in the cavalry forces during the Franco-Prussian War (1870). After an honorable discharge in 1874, he arrived in North America and entered the Jesuit order at St. Joseph's, Sault-au-Recollet, in the New York-Canada Mission (1875).
