Jesuit Obituaries Collection

Scope and Contents

The collection is comprised of news clippings, typed biographical notes, printed memorial cards, and occasional correspondence regarding approximately 1,300 Jesuits who died between 1565 and 1970. Materials cover Jesuits from North American (e.g., Maryland, Missouri, California, and New Orleans) as well as European provinces and are arranged by day of death.

Most manuscripts collections at the Georgetown University Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Collections stored off site require a minimum of three days for retrieval. For use of all manuscripts collections, researchers are advised to contact the Booth Family Center for Special Collections in advance of any visit.
