Scope and Contents The records, files, correspondence and research material of the Center for Public Financing of Elections (CPFE). The Center was established in June, 1973 to develop public support for public funding of the legitimate expenses of campaigning for federal office. The Center's archives at Georgetown constitute a thoroughly documented legislative history for use by students and researchers interesting in election campaign financing.

While the workmen were taking down the old washboard around the floor, this copy of the Centinel of Liberty was found in between the washboard and the wall. Frank Barnum, S.J. March 20, 1899

This room was used then as a bedroom for Post Graduates and was re-arranged to hold the Bric-a-brac given by Mrs. L.B. Hughes."

Collection-level Scope and Content Note These are the office files for one academic year of the 'Faculty Moderator' at Georgetown University whose primary concern appears to have been the business aspects of 'The Hoya,' especially hustling advertisements for it. The correspondence, arranged by month, reveals a little about the motivations of advertisers and the difficulties of obtaining ads during the Depression.

Collection-level Scope and Content Note The C.F. Chase Papers document the activities of C.F. Chase, an American mining engineer in Suan, Korea in the early 1900s. The papers consist of a ledger, unbound letters, and a few photographs. Over 130 pages in length, the ledger covers the financial side of Chase's life in Korea, and it shows the firms with which he transacted business. The ledger contains carbon copies of some of Chase's letters, which discuss the progress at the ore mine. Each page in the ledger is cataloged separately....

Chilton, Jr., chief of the U.S. Consular Bureau of the State Department from 1895 until 1905. Chilton wrote eight of the letters, and 292 letters were written to him.
