Scope and Contents A disbound scrapbook comprising photographs taken by Charles E. Uncapher (1919–2007) of Export, Pennsylvania, during his service with the 33rd Infantry Regiment of the US Army at Fort Clayton in the Panama Canal Zone. The photographs document the regiment at infantry headquarters, views of the Panama Canal and its surrounding area, and a visit by then-General Dwight D. Eisenhower in August 1946. The collection contains more than twenty World War II-era broadsides, handbills, publications, and other ephemera from various Italian socialist partisan groups. It contains circulars and leaflets that call for solidarity and provide updates on the war and a propaganda photograph (allegedly depicting a fascist torture cell). The collection consists of the personal papers of William Harding Jackson. Correspondents include President Eisenhower, Constantine FitzGibbon, Arthur Gardner, Gordon Gray, and Richard M. Nixon, among others. A run of letters regarding Wendell Willkie's 1940 presidential campaign is also included among the documents. Some typed manuscripts by Jackson, a few photographs of him, and a series of printed materials round out the collection.
