The collection consists of copies (both digital and microfilmed) of documents related to the Jesuit's mission in Maryland that are held by the Archivum Romanum Societatis Iesu (ARSI), also known as the Archives of the Jesuit Curia in Rome.
One portion of the collection was provided by ARSI (on DVDs). The other portion consists of copies of ARSI documents that were obtained by Francis X. Curran, S.J. sometime prior to 1960.
Digital copies of documents from both portions of the collection are available digitally in the Booth Family Center for Special Collections.
In total, the collection consists of 3 DVDs and 30 microfilm reels.
Access to this collection is restricted to a designated computer located in the Booth Family Center for Special Collections reading room. Copying or reproducing the contents of the collection is forbidden, but researchers are allowed to take notes and transcribe documents in our reading room.
Requests to obtain permission to publish materials from this collection should be directed the Director of ARSI.

The records on microfilm were originally obtained by Francis X. Curran, S.J. sometime before 1960. They were stored at Loyola Seminary, Shrub Oak until that seminary closed, and then were moved to the Woodstock Theological Center. In 1973, the microfilm was moved to Georgetown University. It was discovered at Georgetown University by R. Emmett Curran in the late 1970s.
DVDs were placed on deposit by the ARSI in 2016. The microfilm portion of the collection was donated by Dr. R. Emmett Curran sometime prior to 2016.
