Printed reports, film reels, photographic slides and audio recordings from Abe S. Ashcanase, who worked for USAID (Agency for International Development) in the 1960s and 1970s.
Series 1 contains slides depicting Ashcanase's work in the Middle East and Asia, including Operation HELP in Afghanistan (1972-1973).
Series 2 contains reports, correspondence, and other written material from Ashcanase's career.
Series 3 contains film and audio reels.
Most manuscripts collections at the Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Collections stored off-site require a minimum of three days for retrieval. For use of all manuscripts collections, researchers are advised to contact the Booth Family Center for Special Collections in advance of any visit.

Abe S. Ashcanase was born on June 24, 1919. For part of his career, he worked for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). He also worked at the Office of the Economic Coordinator for Korea and the Office of the United States High Commissioner for Austria. He held the rank of Major in the U.S. Army. Ashcananse died in Falls Church, Virginia on May 28, 2013 at the age of 93. Ashcanase is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
