Scope and Contents

Printed reports, film reels, photographic slides and audio recordings from Abe S. Ashcanase, who worked for USAID (Agency for International Development) in the 1960s and 1970s.

Series 1 contains slides depicting Ashcanase's work in the Middle East and Asia, including Operation HELP in Afghanistan (1972-1973).

Series 2 contains reports, correspondence, and other written material from Ashcanase's career.

Series 3 contains film and audio reels.

The collection contains materials from Msgr. Hartnett's service as an official with Catholic Relief Services in Asia, in particular Vietnam and India. It includes correspondence, reports, clippings, and other documents.
