Scope and Contents

Printed reports, film reels, photographic slides and audio recordings from Abe S. Ashcanase, who worked for USAID (Agency for International Development) in the 1960s and 1970s.

Series 1 contains slides depicting Ashcanase's work in the Middle East and Asia, including Operation HELP in Afghanistan (1972-1973).

Series 2 contains reports, correspondence, and other written material from Ashcanase's career.

Series 3 contains film and audio reels.

C. F. Chase Papers

Scope and Contents The collection document the activities of C.F. Chase, an American mining engineer in Suan, Korea in the early 1900s. The papers consist of a ledger, letters, and a few photographs/postcards. Over 130 pages in length, the ledger covers the financial side of Chase's life in Korea, and it shows the firms with which he transacted business. The ledger contains carbon copies of some of Chase's letters, which discuss the progress at the ore mine. The other letters mostly concern an adoption case....

Scope and Contents The William Franklin Sands collection contains the correspondence, diplomatic papers, and written work of United States diplomat William Franklin Sands. Additionally included are photographs, collected works, and some genealogical materials compiled by him and his sons. The entire collection spans from 1850 to 1977, but the bulk of the body of work is from 1896 to 1946.
