THE ADDING MACHINE. A Play in Seven Acts, by Elmer L. Rice, 1924-03-16 - 1924-03-17
Scope and Contents
The playbills and programmes collected by Montague Summers include two significant runs of theatre programmes for production companies associated with Summers, the Incorporated Stage Society and The Phoenix, of which Summers was a founding member. Programmes for these productions include many examples of Summers' "Theatrical History" pieces. The miscellaneous playbills and programs include examples of other productions Summers was involved with, as well as other contemporary plays (including John Gielgud's 1943 production of Love for Love, and Granville Barker's 1914 production of Midsummer Night's Dream), as well as related material like a moving picture programme for the 1914 silent film "Old St. Paul's" and two 1863 playbills for the authorized production of Lady Audley's Secret at St. James's and Prince's Theatres.
