Found in Notes:  An American psychiatrist, Francis Braceland, took the initiative in interesting the procurator and rector of the Catholic University of America in the possibility of obtaining Allers for that institution. Fr. Ignatius Smith, O.P., dean of the School of Philosophy brought Allers and his family to America in 1938.

William Harding Jackson Papers

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of the personal papers of William Harding Jackson. Correspondents include President Eisenhower, Constantine FitzGibbon, Arthur Gardner, Gordon Gray, and Richard M. Nixon, among others. A run of letters regarding Wendell Willkie's 1940 presidential campaign is also included among the documents. Some typed manuscripts by Jackson, a few photographs of him, and a series of printed materials round out the collection.

John S. Monagan - Anthony Powell Collection 1

This collection contains over two decades of correspondence between writer Anthony Powell and his American friend John S. Monagan as well as various magazine and newspaper articles relating to Powell as collected by Monagan. Also within the collection are numerous photographs of Anthony and Violet Powell at their home, the Chantry in Somerset, England, mostly taken by Monagan during visits made with his wife Rosemary in 1981, 1987, and 1988.

The material in this collection relates to Julius P. Garesche, a Georgetown University alumnus and chief of staff to William S. Rosecrans, a general during the Civil War.
