Intensive Bioethics Courses (IBC), 1975, 1988-2007
Scope and Contents
The collection contains records of course, lectures, and events held by the Kennedy Institute of Ethics from 1975 to 2014. It primarily consists of promotional materials, but it also includes some administrative records for certain courses and lectures.
The Intensive Bioethics Course is represented in the collection, including more extensive files for IBCs 30 to 38 (2004-2012). These records include schedules, lecture materials (slides, outlines, papes), speaker biographies, and documentation of library activities related to the IBC. There is some material related to the first IBC, then known as the Total Immersion Course (1975).
The collection includes administrative records for the Andre Hellegers Memorial Lectures (1982) and the David Hartman Lecture (1983).
The David Hartman Lecture records include promotional materials, mailing lists, and notes by organizer Isaac Franck. The lecture was titled "Judaism in Modernity: Sinai or Auschwitz," held on March 24, 1983 in the Intercultural Center Auditorium, and was sponsored by the Kennedy Institute of Ethics, the Department of Theology, and the Office of Campus Ministry.
