Letters from Welch to Sister Christina and his great-niece Eileen Doyle (December 27) from Malitbog as well as a Christmas circular to friends and supporters in the US with updates on the parish. The letter to Eileen includes a photograph of Welch on his motorcycle with local children.

Letters from Welch to Sister Christina and his niece Mary Doyle (January 26) from Malitbog, including discussion of how he will be transferred to Jesus Nazareno Parish in Libona beginning in April (January 27). Also includes a Christmas circular to friends and supporters in the US with updates on this new parish. Although not discussed in much detail, Welch refers to a trip back to the US that fall (his first trip since 1974).

Further contains a letter to Connie from the new parish priest of Libona, Fr. Edward van Groenendael (also known as Fr. Dael), containing photographs of a fiesta Leo attended there in January 1989.
