Scope and Contents

Quotation 1: 3 measures from Manon, act 2, with the singer's name, Miss Sibyl Sanderson, added parenthetically by Massenet. Signed and dated by the composer "1ere rep: Covent Garden, London, mardi 19 Mai 1891".
Quotation 2: 3+ measures from Massenet's rendition of "Le sais-tu?" in G Major, lyrics from a poem by Stéphan Bordèse. No location noted and undated, though the song is recorded as having been composed and published in 1880.

Four measures from the 2nd violin part of "Oui! je fus cruelle et coupable!" (the "Ah! rends moi ton amour si tu veux que je vive" section) in Act III of Massenet's opera Manon. Inscribed by the composer "à Mlle Hélène Cohn, respectueusement, Massenet 1897." Sent to Vienna on May 17, 1897, from Aix-Les-Bains.
