Material removed from books in the Villa Le Balze library , 1900 - 1930
Letters, postcards, notes, photos, and newspaper clippings removed from books that are a part of the library of Charles Augustus Strong once at the Villa Le Balze, now at the Booth Family Center for Special Collections. These books likely belonged to George Santayana, as the letters and postcards to him seem to indicate. Titles and call numbers of the associated books in the rare books repository are identified in the folder.

"Little Essays" dummies, 1920
Five separate "dummy" books made up of written drafts, clippings and pages removed from Santayana's earlier works for republication as "Little Essays" in 1921, each representing on of the five parts of the book: I. On Human Nature; II. On Religion; III. On Art & Poetry; IV. On Poets and Philosophers; and V. On Materialism and Morals. The books of Santayana from which material was removed, presumably to construct these, are housed in box 18.
