Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Mixed material related to the philosopher and poet George Santayana including 8 volumes of his books, some annotated by him, and all altered by the cutting and removal of passages and sections for editing into a new collection of essays, along with 5 "volumes" of assembled pages comprising early stage dummy books for five parts of "Little Essays on Religion". Other material includes an issue of the Harvard Monthly, correspondence, lecture notes on ancient and modern philosophers, and similar material removed from books by or belonging to George Santayana.

Most manuscripts collections at the Georgetown University Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Collections stored off site require a minimum of three days for retrieval. For use of all manuscripts collections, researchers are advised to contact the Booth Family Center for Special Collections in advance of any visit.
