Beginning no later than his tertianship, Fr. Richard C. Law regularly performed in barbershop quartets and choirs at various campus and Jesuit community events, including minstrel shows, golden jubilees, and final vow celebrations. This collection contains sheet music and lyrics used for such performances, many of which were personalized for individual Jesuits.

Richard C. Law (1902-1960) was born in Baltimore to William J. Law (1869-1948) and Mary A. Connor Law (1869-1908), and had three siblings: Mary M. (1898-1985), Thomas A. (1904-1928), and William J., Jr. (1905-1983). He was educated at St. Martin’s Parochial School and Loyola High School in Baltimore before entering the Society of Jesus at St. Andrew-on-Hudson in Poughkeepsie (1925-1928). He finished his philosophical studies at Woodstock College (1929-1931), his regency at the College of St. Francis Xavier in New York (1931-1934), and his theology at Woodstock (1935-1938), where he was ordained in 1937. Law completed his tertianship at St. Andrew-on-Hudson and briefly served as vice rector and treasurer at Georgetown Preparatory School (1939). He then joined Georgetown University as prefect of discipline (1940-1946) and later served as professor of religion and moderator of athletics (1946-1956). From 1956 to 1958 he was superior of Carroll House, a Jesuit residence for those teaching at Catholic University, and from 1958 until his death in 1960 he was superior and pastor of St. Ignatius Church in Baltimore.
