Sir Nicholas and Lady Minna O'Conor

 File — Box: 31

Scope and Contents

Approximately 80 items of correspondence from the personal papers of the Anglo-Irish O’Conor family, dated from the 1840s through the early 1900s. The majority are addressed to Margaret “Minna” O’Conor, wife of diplomat Sir Nicholas Roderick O’Conor, from her three daughters Fearga, Muriel, and Eileen, and her half-sister, Theresa Ann Hope. The remainder are either to Sir Nicholas himself or to a number of unidentified friends and family members. Nicholas O’Conor held a succession of diplomatic and ambassadorial posts in South America, China, Europe, and Turkey, while Minna and their daughters appear to have divided their time primarily between Britain and Germany, and this geographic spread is reflected in the letters. Also included are a number of calling cards, receipts, and other ephemera.
