Sasser family: correspondence, 1885 - 1897
Scope and Contents
Two letters from J. W. Pollitt to his niece Elizabeth "Lizzie" B. Elzey (b. 1844), with one regarding the Sasser family claim in Rapides Parish, Louisiana (August 31, 1895). Also includes a letter from Mary Pollet, informing Lizzie of her uncle's death and that his burial expenses were covered by a Mr. Stafford (March 16, 1897), and a letter to Lizzie from Mr. Stafford on the same (July 1, 1897).
Further contains two presumably unsent letters from Lizzie to Whitty S. Miller, who took over as administrator of his deceased uncle Whitty M. Sasser's estate from J. W. Pollitt, and two summaries of the case. Lizzie contended that her side of the family had claim to a portion of the Sasser estate through her aunt Amanda, Whitty M. Sasser's wife.
