Correspondence and documents concerning the family of Frederick Marcy Lynde and his wife Williamanna Elzey, predominantly related to land in St. Johns County, Florida, and Frederick's efforts to receive longevity pay from the US Army for service in the Civil War. Also materials related to the Sasser family estate in Rapides Parish, Louisiana.

Biographical Note
Frederick Marcy Lynde (1848-1898) was born in Michigan and entered the volunteer service at the beginning of the Civil War, serving as Sergeant and later as Second Lieutenant in Company B, 4th Vermont Infantry. He was mustered out in 1862 but re-enlisted as Private and then as Sergeant in the 1st Wisconsin Heavy Artillery until the end of the war. He entered the regular army in 1866 and served in the 22nd and the 1st Infantry, receiving his commission as Captain in 1883 before retiring in 1885. Frederick and his wife Williamanna "Willie" Elzey (1849-1912, m. 1868) resided in St. Johns County, Florida, by 1880. Williamanna's sister Elizabeth "Lizzie" B. Elzey (b. 1844) is also present within this collection.
