Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The papers include a large quantity of Amrine's literary manuscripts, together with correspondence, print and near print material relating to a number of subjects, most importantly, atomic energy research and development.

Correspondents include: Albert Einstein, Hans Bethe, Harold Urey, Thomas Hart Benton and William Allen White. Other materials include a collection of black and white still photographs relating to Amrine's research interests and tape recorded interviews, used as background for a number of his books.

Most manuscripts collections at the Georgetown University Booth Family Center for Special Collections are open to researchers; however, restrictions may apply to some collections. Collections stored off site require a minimum of three days for retrieval. For use of all manuscripts collections, researchers are advised to contact the Booth Family Center for Special Collections in advance of any visit.

Container Summary

Typed Manuscripts of reactions to the Nov. 22, 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy from members of the public and press, and differences between the Kennedy presidency and the Lyndon B. Johnson presidency. Most of the manuscripts are titled "What People Said" and "What the Press Said," while others have headings describing different topics or publications from which the quotes are drawn.
