This folder [No. 8 of 9] consists of Parsons Papers general correspondence (1936-1937) of Patrick F. Scanlan, Managing Editor of "The [Brooklyn] Tablet." Items of interest include: letter (Feb. 21, 1936) pertains to the work of the Legion of Decency; letter (Nov. 6, 1936) discusses the Roosevelt victory in the 1936 Election; letter (Jan. 5, 1937) from John LaFarge (SJ) fears that lack of religious education will cause splinter groups and schism within the Church; newsclipping (June 12, 1937) alleges that Catholic newspapers led by "The Tablet" are portraying secular papers as mouthpieces for loyalist Spain; letter (Sept. 24, 1937) concerns Margaret Sanger; letters (Nov. 4/Nov. 6, 1937) have attachments which pertain to political conditions in Spain.
