Container Summary
This folder consists of material pertaining to the Abraham Lincoln Brigade (1937-1939). Named after the 16th U.S. President, the Abraham Lincoln Brigade was a group of American soldiers who went to Spain to fight for the Leftist cause. Items of interest include: N.C.W.C. News Service bulletin (Feb. 15, 1938) indicates chagrin of some members of Congress over the use of Lincoln's name associated with the brigade; copy of article appearing in "The American Hebrew" concerning the treatment of Jews under Franco. Also included are two issues (Oct., 18/25, 1937) of "The Volunteer for Liberty" [organ of the international brigades] as well as other news bulletins.
