Series-level Scope and Content Note
This series consists of America Magazine General Correspondence. Within this series will be found folders filed by topic and/or names of specific individuals to and from whom correspondence was either addressed or received. In addition, one will occasionally find correspondence which predates the founding of America Magazine. This particular type of correspondence, normally addressed to Father Wynne, the founding editor, was incorporated into the America Magazine general file.

Container Summary
This folder, the first of two, consists of America Magazine General Correspondence (1948-1969) consisting of letters of major and minor celebrities. The vast majority, however, are rather non-substantive, often making reference to a publication. Among the more substantive letters are: letter of George Lincoln Rockwell, the head of the American Nazi Party expressing his political views; letter (Apr. 17, 1959) of Richard M. Nixon which provides information regarding the efforts of the Eisenhower administration in the area of equal opportunity employment.
