This series consists of America Magazine General Correspondence. Within this series will be found folders filed by topic and/or names of specific individuals to and from whom correspondence was either addressed or received. In addition, one will occasionally find correspondence which predates the founding of America Magazine. This particular type of correspondence, normally addressed to Father Wynne, the founding editor, was incorporated into the America Magazine general file.

This folder consists of general correspondence of Monsignor John L. Belford covering the period 1932-1940. Items of interest include: letter (Apr. 27, 1932) provides statistics regarding religious denomination represented in Sing Sing Prison in New York; letter (May 11, 1932) makes observation regarding the quality of Catholic schools; periodical entitled "Nativity Mentor" (May, 1932) which contains article on Father Charles Coughlin; letter (Apr. 17, 1933) and attachment refer to Roosevelt Naval Secretary Josephus Daniels; letter (June 28, 1935) pertains to Father Charles Coughlin; letter (Mar. 30, 1938) from Msgr. Belford provides anti-semitic response to the proposal of the U.S. reception of Jewish refugees from Germany and Austria.
