This folder consists of the "Q" Correspondence (1936-1941) of Francis X. Talbot, S.J., Editor of America Magazine (1936-1944). Items of interest include: letter (Jun. 2, 1936) has attachment announcing the convening of the Third U.S. Congress Against War and Fascism sponsored by the American League Against War and Fascism; letter (Aug. 5, 1936) concerns the Legion of Decency; letter (Nov. 30, 1936) has an attachment which relates the rumors of Wallace Simpson (the future Dutchess of Windsor and wife of Edward VIII of England) having fascist sympathies. It also contains material concerning child victims of the Spanish Civil War who were killed in Madrid; letter (Mar. 18, 1937) has an attachment which concerns the subject of Communism and the Spanish Civil War; letter (Apr. 1, 1940) has attachment which concerns Freemasonry and the subject of federally subsidized Catholic school education; letter (Nov. 10, 1941) and attachments address such topics as Freemasonry, Nazism and Jews.
