Container Summary

This folder contains the "B" Correspondence (Jun.-Dec. 1940) of Francis X. Talbot, S.J., Editor of America Magazine (1936-1944). Items of interest include: letter (Aug. 10) has attached a letter to the Archbishop of Cincinnati concerning three matters: the Archbishop's effort to prevent the spread of totalitarianism, a warning (1935) on religious liberty by Newton D. Baker, former Secretary of War in the War Cabinet of Woodrow Wilson, and the progress of Catholic institutions in the U.S. as the result of the war activity of Archbishop Mooney in 1917. Copies of the aforementioned letter were mailed to the Cardinals, Archbishops and Bishops of the United States.
