Container Summary

This folder consists of the "P" Correspondence (1903-1929) essentially of Wilfrid Parsons, S.J., Editor of America Magazine (1925-1936), although several items pre-date his tenure. Items of interest include: letter (Oct. 12, 1917) from a Jesuit in Ontario, Canada complains of the shortage of brothers in the province, many of whose duties have been taken over by seculars (or laity); letter (July 2, 1928) and attachments deal with the conditions in Mexico, blaming many of the problems of the populace on the Church; letter (July 26, 1927) answers an inquiry concerning allegations made in Andrew Dickson White's book "History of the Warfare of Science with Theology in Christendom" which refute the miracles of St. Francis Xavier; letter (June 17, 1928) and attachments address the contributions of the Jesuits in the area of astronomy and science; letter (Oct. 18, 1929) concerns labor issues.
