Items of interest include: letter (Apr. 17. 1931) from the National Catholic Alumni Federation addressing the issues behind the closing of St. Mary's College in St. Mary's, Kansas, and admonishing that the same issues might affect other Catholic colleges; letter (Apr. 30, 1931) alludes to an announcment made in the public press that the Pope Pius XI invited a Jew to the Vatican to teach Hebrew and that he was to be provided with his own chapel for Jewish services; letter (Jan. 16, 1932) briefly discusses the litury of the Mass; letter (Feb. 24, 1932) and its attachments address the issue of birth control; letter (Mar. 2/Mar. 1, 1932) from the President of Loyola University-Chicago provides some current statistics on the Spanish Jesuits; letter (July 21, 1932) also addresses the birth control issue; letter (July 24, 1932) defends Mussolini and cites the benefits of his rule; letter (Aug. 23, 1932) to Father Parsons discusses the defeat of Alfred Smith presidential bid in relation to those Catholics who helped cause it; letter (Nov. 18, 1932) from the English Provincial in London regarding the demonstration of the "Communist-oriented" group "Hunger Marchers" who appeared in London causing a civil disturbance.
