Container Summary

This folder consists essentially of the "I" Correspondence (1914-1935) of Wilfrid Parsons, S.J., Editor of America Magazine (1925-1936), although some items pre-date his tenure. Items of interest include: letter (Sept. 5, 1928) pertains to Mexican affairs and alleges YMCA and the Methodists role in Mexican persecution; typescript (Sept. 18, 1933) announces the advent of "The Irish Players," an ethnic theatre group dedicated to performing Irish plays depicting Irish Catholic culture; letter (Nov. 9, 1934) from a New Orleans photographer who describes activities of Negroes and whites outside the Cathedral during the funeral of an archbishop; letter (Dec. 24, 1934) announcing a newly published pamphlet on Catholic Mexico produced by the ICTS (International Catholic Truth Society) in an attempt to inform the American public regarding events in Mexico; letter (Nov. 30, 1935) lists several America articles on Communism published between Sept.-Dec., 1935.
