This folder contains the "H" Correspondence (1935) of Wilfrid Parsons, S.J., Editor of America Magazine (1925-1936). Items of interest include: letter (Jan. 17) suggests a plan to formulate public opinion and awareness regarding the Mexican situation; letter (Apr. 15) addresses Father Charles Coughlin and the need of good rebuttals to his arguments; letter (May 31) speaks of the difficulties and religious bigotry Catholics suffer in Edinburgh, Scotland; letter (June 11) from Father Parsons to a reader expresses the "impossibility" of a war with Japan; letter (Aug. 5) questions the utility of bell-ringing for religious services and suggests the noise factor as a reason for Protestant antipathy towards Catholics; letter (Aug. 8) concerns religious bias (i.e., anti-Catholic) in Edinburgh, Scotland; letters (Aug. 20/Aug. 3/June 19) concern the alleged publication of "The Journal of Commerce" that all Jesuit properties were being insured by Lloyd's of London. The attached letter of a Philadelphia insurance agent (June 19) addresses, at length, the differences between U.S. and English regulatory practices; letters (Sept. 4/Aug. 22) speak of religious tension in Edinburgh and comments upon the Protestant Reformation Society, the Protestant Action Society and the Protestant Defense League; letter (no date) is attached to an article entitled: "Obscene Literature and the New York Penal Law."
