Container Summary

This folder contains the "H" Correspondence (1903-1929) of essentially of Wilfrid Parsons, S.J., Editor of America Magazine (1925-1936), although some items pre-date his tenure. Items of interest include: letter (June 1, 1915) proposes the establishment of a Catholic daily newspaper in order to give American Catholics a voice in the world around them; letter (Mar. 12, 1926) voices the complaint of a priest who objects to the posthumous publication of the play "Upper Room" written by another priest on the grounds that the newly altered form of the play is heretical; letter (Mar. 4, 1927) describes voting procedures of Alaskan Indians [Eskimos]; letter (Aug. 16, 1928) discusses need for converting Chinese students in America; letter (Dec. 11, 1928) from the American Tobacco Company states rationale for cigarette smoking and advertisement; letter (Jan. 5/Jan. 3, 1929) from a Catholic makes a rather biased comparison between Catholics and Jews; letter (Apr. 3, 1929) addresses the role of World War I Allied Commander Marshal Foch both as a soldier and Catholic.
