Container Summary

This folder consists of the "D" Correspondence (1934) of Wilfrid Parsons, S.J., Editor of America Magazine (1925-1936). Items of interest include: letter (Jan. 2) discussing labor conditions and the role of labor unions in Weirton, West Virginia the preceding year; letter (Feb. 14) refutes statements from America article regarding Catholic voting patterns; letter (Mar. 1934) from a non-Negro reader who criticizes America's decision to publish a article he perceives as derisive regarding a Negro lynching and stresses the publication's obligations to the Negro. It also makes brief reference to the effects of a notorious San Jose, California. lynching; attached to a letter (Apr. 26) is a copy of the Surgical Code for Catholic Hospitals; in letter (Nov. 15) Fordham University dean laments the lack of Catholic College graduates keeping up their intellectual life through reading and membership in educational societies.
