Sumpter, Fort. Pencil drawing: "Appearance of Fort Sumter on the afternoon of August 23d, sketched form the 'Beacon House' on Morris Island." On rear of drawing: 1 Autograph Letter Signed dated 8/25/1863 from Quincy A. Gillmore, Brigadier General Commanding, reporting that he has employed W.T. Crane, an artist for "Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper," to make a sketch of the progress of the demolition of Fort Sumter; sent from Headquarters of the Department of the South, Morris Island, South Carolina.
