Ter Horst thanking him upon the arrival in Rome of the Greek New Testament given to Roothaan by Ter Horst; complimenting Ter Horst on his good handwriting; praising God for his own health and the well-being of the Society of Jesus. "Quant a moi, mon venerable cousin, je me porte aussi a merveille, et peut-etre n'ai-je pas ete si bien depuis 20 ou 25 ans. A la garde de Dieu! Que sa Bonte daigne m'accorder la grace de le bien servir, avec generosite de cour, sans tiedeur, et sans paresse, sans chercher de repos ni de consolation qu'un le seul!"
