1 ALS in French from Jan Philip Roothaan, S.J. in Rome to Theodoor Roothaan mourning the death of Jan's brother Albert, telling Theodoor to carry on the Roothaan family name well, reminding him of the deeds of St. Theodore the Martyr, and congratulating Theodoor on the birth of a new son, Albert. "C'est ainsi que nous passons tous sur cette terre- pour entrer(?) dans l'eternite. Oh! passons-y tous les jours serieusement.- J'espere mon cher Theodore, que vous et toute la famille nous vous souviendrez toujours du bon exemple ***? par votre bon Pere, pour la vie et pour la mort."
