1 ALS in French from Jan Philip Roothaan, S.J. in Rome to Albert Roothaan expressing hope that Msgr. Groof will receive justice and be able to return to Holland from exile and describing a visit to his church and chambers by Pope Pius IX. "Le S. Pere est admirable de calme et de tranquilite au milieu des travaux et des peines dont il est accable. Le bon Dieu le soutient visiblmt. S.S. est venu dans notre Eglise le jour de S. Ignace et puis est entre dans la maison et s'est entretenu avec nous bien 3/4 d'heure avec une bonte toute paternelle. Il n'y a pas a douter que S.S. est reserve a de grandes choses."
