(Pius IX.) a ete cree le 16 jour de S. Fr. Regis; demain 21., jour de S. Louis de Gonzague, il sera couronne. Solemnites magnifiques, et joye indicible a Rome. Prions que le Seigneur soutienne le S. Pere a porter ce lourd fardeau. Je l'avais vu la ***? de son entree au Conclave- je l'ai aussi vu depuis son exaltation- j'etois en relation depuis longtems j'espere avoir la ***? facilite d'entree et d'audience, comme aupres de son Predecesseur Greg. XVI. de s.m.- selon les besoins de ma charge."
