1 ALS in French from Jan Philip Roothaan, S.J. in Rome to Albert Roothaan, telling of a leter he has received from Mr. (Carolus Augustus?) Lutgert, who claims to have been a fellow student with him at some point and wants him to join him as a partner in the writing of a book of Latin verse; and discussing family business investments at the Banque Romaine. "Un Mr. Lutgert vient de m'ecrire d'Amsterdam. Il dit avoir etudie avec moi. Je n'en doute nullement, quoique je ne puisse m'en rappeler. Ce Monsieur vent imprimer des vers latins, et il me demande que je m'associe, et que je lui trouve des associes. Je lui reponds par l'incluse, que je devais d'abord connoitre le prix- ensuite, s'il doit y avoir en seul ou plusiers volumes- +c. Que d'ailleurs je n'ai pas l'usage de massocier d'avance, mais que longue l'ouvrage sera imprime, et que je l'aurai vu. et que j'en connoitrai les condidtions, je ferai volontiers ce que je pourrai."
