Scope and Contents

An account book (1821-1827) and journal (April 22, 1822-March 30, 1825) predominantly recording debts/credits of parents or guardians for tuition and expense payments. Book also shows other payments like "tipping" for enslaved laborers such as Gabriel (e.g., "for weeding in the garden in time of recreation," April 22, 1822; October 14, 1824; January 26, 1825) and travelling expenses to and from Maryland plantations (April 20, 1821; September 22, 1822; October 1, 1822; October 23, 1822).

Includes an index at the front of the volume.
