Among those listed in the alphabetical name index at the front of the volume are Charles J. Bonaparte, Chief of Bureau of Rolls and Library (State Department), Commissioner of Fish and Fisheries, John Vinton Dahlgren, Father Jerome J. Daugherty, Mother Euphrasia, Mother Mary Fidelis at the Georgetown Convent of the Visitation, Father Patrick Healy, George E. Hamilton, Sister Mary Ignatia, Pension Commission, Paul Pelz, E. Francis Riggs, Alice L. Riggs, Father Henry Shandelle, George Tully Vaughn, and the Washington and Great Falls Railroad Company.

Included are letters to: Commissioner of Fish and Fisheries dated May 25, 1897 stating that “Having established a department of Biology in connection with our Graduate School, we are very desirous to obtain for it a collection of marine and fresh water fishes”; Paul Pelz dated March 31, 1897 relating to the extension of the gallery in the Hall [Gaston Hall?]; and Washington and Great Falls Railroad Company dated May 12, 1897 granting permission to fill “the strip of land belonging to the College and lying to the southward of your track.”
