Included are letters to: Messrs. J.G. Proud and Sons, Baltimore dated May 20, 1889 referencing a fire in the North Building [Old North]; Mr. Hamilton dated July 17, 1889 referencing work on Gaston Hall; Colonel Eliott, U.S. Engineer in Charge of Washington Aqueduct, dated October 9, 1889 referencing the possible creation of a road through campus to replace a road closed by the Engineers and allow an outlet to Mr. Fowler and his neighbors; Colonel J. Wilson, Marlborough, Maryland thanking him for the gift of a mantel from John Carroll’s birthplace; and Mr. Sands dated October 23, 1889 reporting that Miss Ellen Whelan has offered to fund the completion of the Observatory and the purchase of a larger telescope as a memorial to Father James Curley.
