Scope and Contents

Much relates to the celebration of Georgetown’s Centennial. Among those listed in the alphabetical name index at the front of the volume are John Agar, Henry J. Bawtree; Father James Doonan, Father Robert Fulton, Anton Gloetzner, George E. Hamilton, Father Patrick Healy, Thomas Herran, James Hoban, Outerbridge Horsey, James Hoban, Superioress of S. Joseph’s Orphanage Sister Euphrasia, Stephen R. Mallory, Paul Pelz, James Ryder Randall, E. Francis Riggs, John Gilmary Shea, Father Henry Shandelle, Superioress of St. Ann’s Infant Asylum Sister Agnes, University of Virginia, and Felix Cipriano Zegarra.

Included are letters: relating to arrangements for the Centennial (see under “C” in the index); relating to the clock for Healy Hall dated January 28 and January 31, 1889; to Fr. McGurt dated May 3, 1889 in which Fr. Richards relates that the Government has refused to supply an officer to instruct the College Cadets; relating to the Law School property and building dated March 24 and 29, 1889 ; to Father Pye Neal dated March 16, 1889 about the arrival of the old bell [from St. Mary’s City?]; and to Paul Pelz dated February 25, March 16, March 29, and April 13, 1889 about Riggs Library.
