Includes letters of congratulations on his appointment as Georgetown President, including one from Father Patrick Healy, Portland, dated August 17, 1888 offering “hearty congratulations . . . as well as my sympathy in the trials that [the position] will entail . . .” Also letters from: Father W.G.R. Mullan, Woodstock, dated August 24, 1888 which references the Class of Poetry he had taught the previous year (comments are made on the academic achievements of Charles Edward Durross, Caleb Clarke Magruder, William G. McKechnie, Joseph F. McKaig) and his work with the Georgetown College Journal and the boys’ Library; Father James A. Doonan dated September 18, 1988 with reference to the Dahlgrens; J.J. McElhone, House of Representatives, dated November 12, 1888 with reference to Captain [Michael?] Healy.
