Scope and Contents The collection contains photographs, programs, posters and other materials that document the career of opera singer Alvy Powell. The materials primarily document two aspects of Powell's career: his opera performances, especially the role of Porgy in the Porgy and Bess, and his time performing in the U.S. Army Chorus.
