The collection documents the work of Willard Gaylin, including his writing and some activities of The Hastings Center. It includes a scrapbook from his retirement and the 25th anniversary of the Hastings Center; articles and clippings by and about Gaylin; a video interview; a few episodes of Hard Choices, a 6-part PBS series on bioethics which Gaylin narrated; and other materials.

It includes material created while employed at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics (KIE) at Georgetown University (1979-2019) and at the Hastings Center (1970-1979). It also documents his work as an advisor and lecturer at a wide variety of universities, hospitals, healthcare organizations, and governmental bodies.
