Found in Notes:  In Hall's history of the Coldstream Guards he relates the following: "When the late Marquess fell at the battle of Magersfontein, having displayed 'almost reckless valour,' his body was brought home to the churchyard of that Amport which preserves in its suffix, though the fact has been forgotten, the name of his Norman ancestor, the Hugh de Port of the Conquest."

Ambassador Lyon was posted to Warsaw, Poland, from 1948 to 1950, where he served as first secretary.
