Theodore Schneider (1703-1764) was born in Geinsheim, Germany, and after completing his collegiate education at Spires and Heidelberg, he entered the Society of Jesus at Mainz in 1721. He was a teacher of literature, rhetoric, and philosophy at various colleges including Molsheim and Heidelberg before he was sent to Goshenhoppen or Cushenhopen (Pennsylvania) in 1741.
