Scope and Contents note

The Raphael - Teilhard de Chardin Collection consists of thirty-seven letters, a manuscript drawing, two typed manuscripts, and a number of offprints on evolution and anthropology, all from the collection of Mrs. Francoise Raphael, an old friend of Teilhard from his early days in China. There is also a folder of black-and-white photographs.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of 18 letters written by Fr. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin to a French acquaintance, Mme. R. J. Houdin (d. 1989). The correspondence is personal in nature, containing advice from Teilhard to Mme. Houdin relating to her friend Andre, her children Gerard and Corinne, and her grandchild Thierry. Written between 1951 and 1955, the correspondence also recounts Teilhard's life in New York, with some references to his various trips to South Africa and to California and Maine....
